A holding space

From “The Soulwork of Justice: Four Movements for Contemplative Action” by Wesley Granberg-Michaelson

The underlying purpose for you to construct a holding space is creating an interior place where encountering God’s presence and love becomes a possibility. This has little or nothing to do with what you “believe.” One of the problems of many inherited, Western forms of Christianity is their being founded on a belief in beliefs, the rational appropriation of mental and theological constructs. But I expect what you truly hunger and thirst for is an encounter with God’s presence that reaches your soul. That’s what holds the potential for ongoing, inward transformation rooting your onward journey in a reality transcending immediate circumstances and oppressive obstacles.
