Justice is found in self-determination

From “The Social Justice Investor: Advance Your Values While Building Wealth, Whether a Few Dollars or Millions” by Andrea Longton, CFA

Investing in justice means connecting communities with the resources required to implement their plan and then getting out of the way. It means letting go.

Our secret sauce is listening to communities that sit closest to the problems. Social justice investors restore an equitable flow of capital by asking the impacted communities for guidance on what to finance and how. Respect breaks down the barriers that otherwise keep dollars from creating real change.

This doesn’t mean that you as an investor need to knock on doors and participate in community engagement interviews.

It does mean that you select products that reflect insights that professional social justice investors gleaned from those boots-on-the-ground conversations.
