There’s a “church” in Kansas known for its anti-LGBTQ ideology as its members (mostly just people in one family) protest at funerals or outside churches that suggest God loves everyone. They’ve particularly become infamous for their “God Hates [slur]” signs (I’ve censored their hate). But my favorite response is people who show up with counter-protest signs: “God Hates Shrimp.” The signs draw from a different verse in Leviticus than those the Kansas “church” people like to quote:
All creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales – whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water – you are to regard as unclean. And since you are to regard them as unclean, you must not eat their meat; you must regard their carcasses as unclean. Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be regarded as unclean by you.
So eating shrimp is officially forbidden. Same for lobster, which should make PETA happy and suggests my high school was pretty sinful. The popularity of Long John SIlver’s, Captain D’s. Red Lobster, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Company clearly proves how godless our nation is!
